Unfortunately we left one of our cars unlocked last night in the driveway on Gatwick and our GPS, binoculars, etc were stolen from the car. Obviously there is someone checking out cars at night, so make sure yours is locked.

Report from Seven Oaks
West H O Association
Just thought I would pass this on to you as you live in one of the
neighborhoods this affects.
Lynne, here is a note from the Mom of the boys who were approached by the
predator:

This incident was with my children. We live at 373 Seven Oaks
Drive. It was Sunday around 4 and my boys were playing in the
front yard. The man tried to talk them into getting in the car saying he
had a ball throwing machine down by the Rothchilds home and he
would drive them down there so they could play with it. When they
said no and started walking toward the house he drove off the other
direction. My husband tried to drive around the neighborhood to
get the mans tag but he had gone. Our boys were smart, you wouldn't
think in our neighborhood that our kids cant play in the front
yard. I didn't know who to contact in the neighborhood to alert
everyone. I'm glad the police did. My name is Missy H. and
my phone is: ****. If any neighbors have questions. The boys>>**Phone number was omitted by webmaster to protect the privacy**<<
are looking at mug shots in the sex offender website to see if they
see him. The second incident on Ebenezer was the next day but was
a different man they think. The police said the boys there were so
scared of the man they ran into the woods and hid for an hour
before they came out to tell anyone what had happened. Please be safe..

Residents, we have had a dangerous incident in our subdivision that
is most disturbing, frightening and dangerous. My information comes
from Deputy Hayes 215-2243, the main number for the Sheriffs Dept.
This is what she reported to me:
The incident happened on Sunday night Nov 29 on Sevenoaks Drive
where Sevenoaks Trail meets. I believe she said it was around 5:00
pm but not sure. A white male, 40ish with gray hair, driving a
white Lexus wearing a white shirt and red sweater vest stopped and tried
to get 2 young boys around ages 10 & 11 to get into the car with
him by tempting them with a line saying he had a pitching/batting
machine he would like to show them. HE DID NOT GET THE LITTLE BOYS.
THEY RAN HOME. I DO NOT KNOW THE NAMES OF THE CHILDREN NOR THE
FAMILY INVOLVED THAT LIVES IN OUR SUBDIVISION.
Deputy Hayes also wanted me to pass on this info: There is a white
male, 40ish in a white pick up truck, brown hair and brown mustache
that has tried to get children in the subdivisions up and down
Ebenezer, Bexhill, Farmington etc. He drives in around 5:00 PM
around the time that children play outside waiting for their
parents to return from work. She thinks the 5:00 PM hour is significant to
this mans "catch."
Deputy Hayes has ask us to please keep and eye out for these men,
these vehicles and above all, keep your children safe and always
looked after. One way a pedophile tries to get children also is to
lie to them and tell them they have lost their new puppy or kitty..
IF U SEE ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS, immediately call 911 and report it or
Deputy Hayes at KCSD 215-2243. She will be patrolling our
subdivision also.
If U received this email please make sure your children's playmates
parents received it also so this info can be known.
I have all the information on beginning a Neighborhood Watch and
would like some volunteers from the neighborhood. Please let me
know if U are interested and would like to volunteer in developing this
for our subdivision.
In the future, I am going to post on the large tree in the blvd.
exiting our subdivision when an email is in your box so that all
will be alerted to it. It will read:

Hi neighbors,
I just wanted to alert everyone about something I was just told. A friend at Bluegrass just called me and said there has been a man driving around the Bexhill neighborhood trying to lure kids into his car. All she knew was that he is white and in his 40's. They do not have a description of the car yet. She said someone in the neighborhood had filed a police report that there had been an attempted child abduction.
Not too much information and I did not confirm with the police but.. it's always good to remind the kids about not getting in anyone's car that they don't know.
Please feel free to pass this on.
Thanks,

October 13, 2008 I live on Buxton Drive and around 3:00 p.m. a suspicious man opened our 6 foot fence which leads to the backyard of our home. The he preceded to walk onto our back deck and looked through our French door windows and then knocked on the door. I spoke with the man through our French doors and he said that he just finished sealing a neighbors driveway 2 houses up from mine with concrete sealer and had some extra sealer left over. He said that our neighbor said that we might want to have our driveway sealed. During the conversation, he acted very suspicious. After I told him that we were not interested, he left in a white truck. This truck is not the same one that is pictured on the neighborhood website.

The police were called and the incident was reported. The police said that they would put our house on the watch list, which would provide extra patrols for a while.

September 17, 2008 There was a home break-in 9/16 on Bexhill Dr. The break-in occurred about 2pm in the afternoon. The suspects entered the home from the rear of the house by kicking in a door. They removed several items from the house and exited through the garage. The suspects were driving an older white sedan. The police were called and a report was filed. The description of the vehicle was consistent with other break-ins in the area, but there have been several other vehicles used as well. On 9/15, a television news report also indicated that Gettysvue has had multiple break-ins in the past few weeks. According to police officers, most of the break-ins are through open garage doors. Keep your eyes and ears open for any suspicious activities. A Bexhill Drive resident

We received a call earlier today from a resident who lives on Bexhill Dr. She said that the other day, the man in the white Ford Edge who had been sitting in his truck in front of her house followed her out of the subdivision by vehicle. The same man came to their door today and when they answered with a barking dog in tow, he explained that he must have the wrong address. He has used this ploy several times that we know of. We suggested that she make a report to the sheriff’s office. We have not noticed the truck in our section of the subdivision for several weeks. Sometimes when we are either leaving or returning, we make a tour of the area to see if he is out and about. At the sheriff department’s suggestion, you should always call the sheriff’s office if you see the man or his truck in any suspicious activity on your property or your neighbor’s property; and when they ask if you want them to send an officer out, say “yes” regardless of whether or not he is still in the area. All of these sightings should be documented for future reference. This has been going on for almost a year now.
Again, please let your neighbors know that this is happening. It probably is not wise to answer the door to someone you do not know and don’t leave your doors unlocked.

Bexhill Break-in |
This May, a home on Buxton was burglarized. The homeowner had a neighbor watching the home while out of town, but the burglar(s) broke in while the family watching the home was out to lunch. The victim had left the garage door cracked for a pet, which turned out to be easy access for the burglar. The door leading from the garage into the home was dead-bolted, but the burglar tore down the metal door/frame. Jewelry and electronics were stolen.

Revitalizing Neighborhood Watch |
Due to some recent suspicious activity in our neighborhood, we are reviving our Neighborhood Watch program. This is how it works.
- If you see something suspicious or witness a crime, call the Sheriff's Department (or 911 for an emergency).
- Ask that the officer responding to the scene give you a report after he/she assesses the situation.
- Contact your block captain (list in the next article below). Be sure that it’s an appropriate time of day before calling.
- The block captain will report the information to BHA Vice President, Mikki Casselman.
- Mikki will contact all block captains.
- Block captains will spread the word to neighbors.
This system will only work if everyone is aware and follows the above chain of communication. Please help keep our neighborhood safe.

| I have had several calls over the past two weeks about a vehicle that keeps reappearing in our subdivision. It was first brought to my attention in December that the Sheriff's Department had been contacted concerning a white Ford pick-up truck with mysterious writing on the windows (photo taken and emailed to me by a neighbor is attached). After a few calls by one neighbor to the Sheriff's Dept., the vehicle was towed. Since the towing, I have not heard any reports of strange writings, but have had more calls about the truck. I'm told by neighbors that the man who drives the truck parks in the neighborhood, and he sometimes walks and sometimes rides a bike throughout Bexhill's streets. His truck should be easily identifiable as I'm told that it has pad locks on the door handles. I'm also told by neighbors that deputies responding to the calls have confirmed that the man does not live in the neighborhood and that his tags don't match the vehicle. |

Neighbors also report the following:
1. 2-23-08 Saturday morning approx. noon, he was seen leaving the neighborhood.2. 2-19-08 Tuesday morning he was turning into the subdivision.3. A neighbor saw him park at the Weigel's next to the school (as he did the day the neighbor called the police the first time) and get out of his truck and start walking.4. One night approx 6:30pm he was parked on Buxton between Bexhill and Moorgate next door to a police officer's house. This time a deputy was pulling behind his vehicle. The neighbor says she spoke to the officer and he said he had received numerous calls about it. He also told her he'd like to know what the guy was up to.5. 1-16-08 Wednesday, 3:00pm the truck was on Buxton.6. Week of April 1, the man tried to feed dog biscuits to the dog of a police officer living in the neighborhood asking the officer if his dog is police-trained.7. Was reported attending an open house of a home for sale on Moorgate telling the real estate agent that his name is "Steve" but not giving an address or phone number to be contacted.8. A teenager who lives in the neighborhood recalls seeing the man several times while out riding around with friends. While I have personally never seen the man or the truck, I'm told that the man is tall, between the ages of 40 and 50, and has short graying hair. I'm also told that he is fairly clean-cut and may not look suspicious.I have spoken to a police neighbor who says the best thing we can do is call the Sheriff's Dept. every time we see the vehicle and/or the man.I will contact the Sheriff's Dept. to see if we can be put on heightened patrol. Please spread the word to your neighbors.
